My Life and Family

I created this blog mainly to discuss everyday topics as well as experiences that I've had with my daughter, Kaitlin. Once in a while, i'll blog about other things...perhaps more to vent then anything. My little public diary, as i'd like to call it. Feel free to chime in at any time, but please don't be too harsh. Thanks!

Halloween is almost here!

Halloween is practically here and I cannot hide the excitement I feel! It will be Kaitlin's second time and my little Kaylee's first! Kaylee will be Daisy Duck and Kaitlin will be Minnie Mouse.

I realize that they probably won't remember this Halloween or the one next year, but at least I can say we got to experience all the festivities. I want my children to have something to remember these moments even if they can't remember it all themselves. I'll have this blog and tons of pictures to prove to them that we did things together as a family when they were young and for that, I am happy. I wouldn't trade those moments for all the money in the world!

I have a picture of Kaylee trying on her outfit and I have one of Kaitlin as Tinkerbell from last year just to compare the two and their similarities...It's so exciting!!

These are the moments ...

I'm always complaining to my hubby about how when he's off, all we ever really do is run errands. We never get to do anything fun or family oriented. So...with that being said, we decided to finally dedicate one of his days off to just having a good time as a family.

Yesterday was the first time in a long time that we got to do something truly memorable and exciting. Since I was a little girl, I always promised myself that when I had my own children, I would take them to "The Children's Discovery Museum". Sure enough, that was the first place that came to mind. Grant it, Kaylee probably wouldn't have much to do (or so I thought), but the experience would be both fun and educational.

It wasn't at all expensive to get in. $9 for adults, $4 for kids and a discount for anyone who had a membership. Kaitlin LOVED it there. She had the most fun in the water area, but there was just so many things to do there! There was even an area for children 4 and under! Kaylee, unfortunately fell asleep when we got to that part of the museum, but I would like to think she was pooped more from having such a grand time and not from boredom.

After all that excitement at the museum, we decided to make our way to a local pumpkin patch.

Here are a few photos of the girls at the pumpkin patch. Mostly of Kaitlin because Kaylee can't get around quite as well yet.

The kids truly had a wonderful time. To see the curiosity and joy in their eyes all at the same time really makes these experiences worthwhile. People always tell me to wait to do those things until they get older so they can remember it better, but that's what cameras and pictures are for. I want to experience and enjoy every minute I have with my family (especially my girls). These are the moments that last a lifetime, and whether they remember these moments or not, it doesn't really matter. It's the fact that I get to share these moments with them and I, for sure will never forget them.

An update on my family...

It's been a long while since I last blogged and so many things have changed. I orginally began this blog to make a little money (the total and honest truth), but I haven't made ANY money at all and I'm totally okay with that. I think just writing about my family as well as my experiences with life in general is an awesome way to document my life and how I was feeling at that exact moment in time. My original approach to blogging was totally wrong and my reasons for blogging have since changed.

So an update on anything and everything that is me:

I gave birth on February 11, 2008 to a 7 lb. 14oz. baby girl (Kaylee Faith). She is now 8 months old, crawling and beginning to stand. The only issue I have right now with her is getting her to eat solid food.

My older daughter, Kaitlin, has adjusted fairly well to her sister and they are starting to play together which is such a joy to see. I remember discussing those moments with my husband about how our girls would play together and that time has actually arrived. It's crazy how time flys! On another note, my fear of Kaitlin being delayed has subsided quite a bit. We had her evaluated at 15 months and she was definitely behind. This in turn qualified her for Early Intervention (free therapy). She hasn't been on it long, but has progressed tremendously on her own. She was a late walker and now it appears she is a late talker, but she says words. For example, "mama", "dada", "baba", "sister (thista)", "shoes (choosh)", "cheese (shees)", "what's that", "what's this", please (pweese)", "no", "yeah", and a few others that don't come to mind. I guess she just works at her own pace.

As for me, having 2 girls 11 months apart has definitely taken it's toll on my body. I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't at all thin prior to my girls being born, but the fact of the matter is I have no excuse for remaining the size I am. I keep telling myself this will be the month or this will be the year I change and become a better and healthier me, if not for myself, then at least for my kids, but still, I remain a couch potato! Exercising with two kids under 2 has become a challenge. We recently moved to an apartment and we're on the 2nd floor (no elevator), so I try and avoid the stairs at all costs by staying inside. A lot of good that has done me! It's only made me more of a fat hermit! GREAT! I promise myself though, when the opportunity presents itself for me to regain my health, I am definitely taking the chance. I know, excuse after excuse, but I have no one, other then myself, to watch the girls. It's just altogether hard!!

My older sister, Carrie, recently had a beautiful, bouncing baby boy and I was there to witness the entire miracle of birth (I had to have 2 C-sections and was unable to experience the beauty of a natural birth). Zedeno (Unless you're a hockey fan, you're probaby wondering where his name came from...I don't know what hockey team this gentleman plays for, but if anyone knows him, please notify him that there is now 2 Zedenos in the world...thanks!) was born on June 9, 2008 weighing in at 8 lbs. 14 ozs. My sister is petite so for her to push out that much baby is truly amazing! He's 4 months now and coming into his own. His temper is fairly similar to both my girls. Hotheaded and stubborn. I guess we'll have to chalk that up to genetics. LOL.
From Zed!

Anyway...that's the update for now! Toodles until then!
